How To Find The Best Wedding Photographer In Perth?

In one of my recent blogs I provided some tips on how to choose the best wedding photographer in Perth. We spoke about the personality match, the price vs budget and a few other key-points to help couples make the big decision.

Since then however, I found that while many are looking at how to choose the right photographer, it is worth taking a few steps back and looking at the starting point prior to choosing - how and where to find a wedding photographer.

After all, with so much information out it is easy to get overwhelmed and as a result, a little stressed.

So, today we are looking at some starting points.

Firstly, congrats!

Nothing is more special than two people committing to a lifetime together.

As a wedding photographer in Perth, not only have I loved taking part in many weddings over the years but love staying in contact and hearing stories from the happy couple, many years after their special day.

So, in that case, you are now engaged, have told the family and friends and it is time to start planning.

If you have met me in the past, you may have heard me say that prior to hiring a photographer it is first recommended to choose a wedding venue and deside on the overall budget. Once that is done, it's time to start the search.

How to find your wedding photographer

The past is crucial

It is fair to assume that out of all your family and friends you are not the first to plan a wedding and look for a photographer. So, the first thing I would recommend is simply asking for a recommendation from those close to you. Even if you don’t find the right photographer, you may get some advice on the wrong photographer and who not to hire.

Wedding Photographers Online

While we mentioned that the large amount of information out there can get overwhelming, searching online would be a great option.

If you are however going with the online approach, the key is not to just search for A wedding photographer in Perth (although that is a great starting point). Try searching for other terms like wedding photographer tips or outdoor wedding photographer (if you are planning for an outdoor event).

The point is, using different keywords during your search will allow you to find a wedding photographer that is not only great with the camera but possibly great with many other things that go into a wedding. And then, you may find someone who can provide even more value.

Wedding Expos in Perth

Throughout the year there are a number of events and days you can attend that simply have everything you would ever need for planning a wedding.

So spending a day at an expo means you could find someone to make you the wedding invites, a florist, and many other vendors including wedding photographers. A popular expo amongst those planning their wedding is the Annual Wedding Expo at Claremont Showground but hopping online and searching for Wedding Expos in Perth will give you a long list of events you can attend

The social media groups

We already mentioned the online search but apart from Google, you would find that Facebook has many local groups with great advice. If you are looking to take it one step further, Instagram is a great place to view the work of photographers and see if their work is a match for what you are looking for. This is also a great opportunity to click on their website.

All in all, I would recommend those tips as a starting point when trying to figure out how and where to find a wedding photographer. Now that you have this in hand, the next step is finding the right photographer for you.

Remember, a good wedding photographer does not necessarily mean they are the right photographer for you. You want to find someone you connect with, someone who has great work, is reliable, and of course, someone who will make you feel comfortable In-front of the camera. So make sure you interview them well before booking them.

Last but not least, try and enjoy the process.
